Output Inc. claims to have gone beyond the possible in the field of virtual saturation and signal distortion. The developers confirm their claims with the release of the new Output Thermal plug-in, which the company positions as “interactive distortion”.
The new product offers a multi-stage engine capable of performing not only traditional distortion and signal saturation processing, but also more flexible signal distortion. The program’s interface features a circular XY pad directly linked to distortion parameters, providing access to 250 effect variations.
For those who find the simple effect settings insufficient, the developers suggest exploring the advanced parameters section. A dedicated display, displaying the processed signal’s waveform, allows users to more clearly control the distortion. Additionally, users can adjust envelopes and modulation, as well as add other effects. In total, users can choose from 19 algorithms for analog or digital signal distortion.
“If you’re familiar with Output Inc.’s work, you know that we love to turn conventional wisdom on its head,” noted Output CEO Gregg Lerman. “We believe distortion can be less mechanical and more creative.
